The historical evidence shows that the Anna wind band was active before the official date of its foundation. There are documented references to the band taking part in the opening of the municipal cemetery on 29 May 1890, as well as participating in shows organized by the Sociedad Recreativa de Anna.
However, it was on 3 November 1920 when a group of people led by Bautista Durá Soler decided to formalize the wind band's activities, naming it the "Sociedad filarmónica banda Nueva Artística". The inclusion of "new" in its name demonstrates the band's desire to differentiate itself from another group of musicians.
The band's first director was Adrián Peiró, a great music-lover who was a member of the first small ensemble. Later in the same decade he was succeeded by Hermenegildo Lerma and Benito Cabezas.
From early 1930 to 1939, Vicente Miralles was director. After the Civil War the band reformed and Germán Sanchis Morell took up the baton.
He was followed by Vicente García Bou, who stayed in the post until 1952. The following directors were: Vicente Marín Sanz, Ferran J. Miralles i Martínez, Joaquín Romero, Manuel Mondejar and Germán Nogués Suey, the current director of band. The current president is Rafael Camarena García.
The many prizes the band has won during the course of its long history include:
First prizes for pasodoble in: Xàtiva 1930, Onteniente 1947 and 1948, Alcoy 1952 and 1964, Biar, Ontinyent and Onil, 1986.
