Big Band Casino Musical de Godella (Valencia) HISTORIAL DE LA BANDA The Casino Musical of Godella is one of the many music associations that can be found all over the Valencia Region. With around 600 members, it both enjoys and forms a part of a privileged setting which values culture and music. The association has a wind band which is one of the oldest in the region (evidence of its existence dates back to the nineteenth century), a string orchestra founded in 1994, and a choir formed in 2008. The jazz Big Band, our latest project, rounds off the association's rich and broad repertoire, and differentiates us from other Valencian music associations. The Casino Musical of Godella Big Band was formed in October 2012 on the initiative of its conductor, Manolo Valls, and became part of the group of ensembles which belong to the music association. The goal of the band is to develop of complete jazz music program which is both educational and artistic, offering audiences a repertoire which always strives for authenticity and quality. The members of the band have incredibly diverse backgrounds. Professional jazz musicians, amateur musicians and other professionals from the world of classical music work together in perfect harmony with the common goal of making good music and playing jazz. BIOGRAFÍA DEL DIRECTOR Manolo Valls GuadamuroManolo Valls Guadamuro began studying music at a very early age in the Casino Musical in Godella. He went on to study at the Líria Conservatory, where he was awarded the Extraordinary End of Degree Prize. He finished his higher degree studies in saxophone at the Alicante "Oscar Esplá" Conservatory. He has attended master classes and courses in music theory with Claude Delangle, Arno Bornkamp, David Alonso, Israel Mira, Adolfo Ventas, Luís Blanes and Roque Baños. He has also completed courses in improvisation, combo, harmony, big band and arrangement with Ramón Cardo, Agustí Fernández, Daniel Flors and José Luís Granell.He has been a member of several ensembles during his career, with which he has recorded various records, including Sedajazz Big Band (LP "Muñequita Linda"), Big Band of the Universitat Jaume I de Castelló (LP "5 Anys de Big Band UJI"), Los Carrilanos (LP "Por pura casualidad"), Naima (LP "Naima UNO" and LP "Buscas"), Mike McKoy& Friends, Enjazzats Big Band and Sixosis. He has occasionally collaborated with Ramón Cardo Big Band, Nova Dixieland Jazz Band, the Gran Caimán salsa orchestra, Presuntos Implicados, Duende y Aire (jazz-flamenco) and Carlos Carrasco (LP "Cuentos de Papel"). He has been a member of the Saxaes group (LP "Saxaes&Amics") for twelve years. He has also taught in the Music Schools in Almàssera and Rocafort and in the Liceo Hispano High School in Paterna. He currently teaches saxophone, musical expression and chamber music at the School of the Casino Musical in Godella, the Godella Professional Conservatory of Music and IALE High School in La Eliana. |
