HISTORIAL DE LA BANDA

The Agrupación Musical "Ribera del Júcar" was created by a group of people who wanted to show their passion for music and who all lived in towns on the bank of the Júcar river.

In April 1995, its founder and first president, Fernando Parrilla Barbero, took the first steps toward creating the band. He quickly secured the help of the first founding members, a sizeable group which included their first conductor, Salvador Navarro Ripoll.

Little by little more musicians joined, all of them motivated by a love of music. The band is composed of musicians from L'Alcudia, Alcira, Algemesí, Carlet, Catadau, Llombai, Alfarp, Poliñá del Xúquer, Albalat, Guadassuar, Alcántara del Xúquer, Corbera, Benifayó, Alginet, Benimodo, Montroy and Benicull.

In its short history, the band has received great praise at the numerous concerts it has given all over the Valencian Region and in Leganés, a well-known town in Madrid. The group is made up of about 55 musicians and has been conducted in benefit concerts by the prestigious, internationally-famous conductor Francisco Grau Vegara, when he was the conductor of the Band del Rey, and the eminent Valencian conductor, Enrique Garcia Asensio.

Salvador Navarro Ripoll, Amadeo Mateu and German Nogués Suey were its first principal conductors. The band then decided to hire novice conductors so it could act as a trampoline for their careers. The first of this group was José Grau Benedito. He was followed by Rafael Doménech Vives, the brother of the current conductor, and until recently the band was conducted by David Moltó Romero. All of these young conductors gained maturity and assurance from their experience with the band.

This year a young musician from L'Alcudia, Óscar Doménech Vives, took over as conductor. We hope he profits from his time with us and we give him all our support.
