COMPULSORY PIECE: «FADE«
Every sound that is produced is destined, inevitably, to fade away. Or perhaps not?
Based on a musical idea presented in the introduction, the work unfolds over a continuous ten-minute span, without division into movements. The material is transformed in all its parameters and explored through the wide range of timbral possibilities offered by the symphonic wind band.
Its successive appearances continually fade away, yet their disappearance is never entirely definitive. Each sonic object gives way to a new manifestation of itself; what vanishes in one plane re-emerges and is projected in another. Through this process of accumulation and subtraction, the elements introduced at the outset gradually acquire greater scope and significance, ultimately forming a single continuous whole.
In this way, Fade proposes a process of transformation and dissolution in which the initial materials expand and interact throughout the musical discourse.
