Sociedad Musical L'Armonia De Montroy HISTORY OF THE BAND Montroy parish documents show that the "UNIÓ PROTECTORA MUSICAL" was founded in 1832, evidence of the town's long musical tradition. However, the existence of this group was cut short by the Civil War (1936-1939). After the war, in 1945, the "UNIÓ ARTÍSTICA MUSICAL" was founded and on 25 July 1974, thanks to the enthusiasm and initiative of some Montroy musicians and residents, the "SOCIEDAD MUSICAL L'ARMONIA" was born. Particularly worthy of note are the band's performances in local and national festivals all over Spain, such as the 17th Peñíscola Festival in 2009 or the 11th Talavera de la Reina Wind Band Festival in 2011. They have also taken part in the Valencia Provincial Contest in 1996 and 2001, and in other provincial contests where they have won numerous prizes. In 2000 they won first prize in Division Three of the 10th National Wind Band Contest "City of Murcia" under the baton of Manuel Godoy Mesas. In 2004, conducted by Francisco Carrascosa Miguel and taking part in Division Two, they gave a great performance in the 14th National Wind Band Contest "City of Murcia". The band won another notable prize in the city of Alicante with the pasodoble "Concert en la Plaça Major", by Francisco Lacalle, a native of Montroy and honorary director of the Sociedad Musical L'Armonia. This year the band will take part for the first time in the International Wind Band Contest "City of Valencia". BIOGRAPHY OF THE CONDUCTOR José Carrascosa NavarroJosé Carrascosa Navarro was born in Buñol (Valencia) in 1979. He began studying music in the music school of the Centro Instructivo Musical (CIM) La "Armónica". He went on to the "San Rafael" Professional Conservatory in Buñol where he obtained his intermediate qualifications, specializing in clarinet. He also has a degree in orchestra conducting from the "Joaquín Rodrigo" Superior Conservatory of Music in Valencia, where he was tutored by Manuel Galduf Verdeguer.As a guest conductor he has led the Sociedad Musical "La Paz" of Siete Aguas, the youth band of the Sociedad Musical "Santa Cecilia" of Requena and the Wind Band of the CIM "La Armónica" of Buñol. He has also conducted the youth band and was sub-conductor of the wind band of the CIM "La Armónica" of Buñol (2001-2009). In 2008 he was selected to take the examinations to qualify for the post of assistant conductor of the Barcelona Municipal Band. In 2006 he conducted the wind band of the CIM "La Armónica" of Buñol in the National Wind Band Contest "Villa de Magallón", winning first prize with the highest possible marks. Since 2005 he has taught musical expression at the "Manuel Carrascosa García" music school of "La Armónica" of Buñol. He has been the conductor of the Sociedad Musical "Santa Cecilia" of Chera since 2007 and of the wind band of the Unión Musical of Jalance since 2008. Since January 2012 he has been the conductor of the Sociedad Musical L'Armonia of Montroy. |
