HISTORY OF THE BAND

In early 2002, Fernando Miras Gallego had the idea of creating a wind band for retired and elderly musicians in the Horta Sud. The Band, with 65 musicians from various towns in the Horta Sud area and Valencia city, undertakes musical, therapeutic and social projects. It is also a cofounder of the European Federation of Retired and Elderly Musicians (CEMUJ).

In 2005, the Band performed in the closing ceremony of the International Wind Band Contest, held in the Palau de la Música in Valencia.

In 2006, it performed in the First Wind Band Festival for the Elderly of the Valencia Region, held in Alcoi. The ensemble was led by Fernando Miras Gallego since its foundation in 2002 until March 2015, when Vicente M. Martínez Escudero took over the post of President. The musical direction of the Band has been managed by various conductors, including Hugo Chinesta, who directed the Band from its foundation until 2005.
