Societat Instructiva Unió Musical Tavernes De La Valldigna HISTORY OF THE BAND The Banda Sinfónica de la Societat Instructiva Unió Musical of Tavernes de la Valldigna made its debut on Palm Sunday 1883 in Tavernes. The band's first conductor was Lorenzo Sancho. In 1928 the original band split into two. In 1939 the two bands merged to once again to form the single group we know today. The years from 1945 to 1964 were a critical period for the band due to high levels of emigration. In 1965 the band began its slow recovery and in 1969 Eduardo Arnau Moreno became its conductor. He managed to considerably improve the band's technical level and lead it in Division One of the International Wind Band Contest "City of Valencia" (CIBM). In 1979 the band took part in Special Division A (the highest category), today the Honorary Division, where they still participate today. The contest they have entered the most frequently is the Valencia CIBM, taking part in 1915, 1916, 1917, 1930, 1934 and 1945.
On 27 December 2008, in recognition of its 125th anniversary, our band received the Medalla de Oro from the FSMCV. BIOGRAPHY OF THE CONDUCTOR Carlos Revert EspíCarlos Revert Espí was born in Agullent (Valencia). He received his degree in saxophone, tutored by Miguel LLopis, from the Valencia Superior Conservatory of Music.He attended specialist courses in saxophone with Rafael Sanz, Manuel Miján, Arno Bornkamp, Claude Delangle and Serge Bichon. He has studied harmony, counterpoint, analysis and orchestration with Javier Darias, and harmony and analysis with Luis Blances. He has studied conducting with Rafael Sanz, Eduardo Cifre, Enrique García Asensio, Manuel Hernández Silva and Denise Ham. His conducting career began in the "Eduardo Torres" Choir of Albaida. He later went on to conduct the following wind bands: the "Primitiva" of Albaida (second prize in the Cullera Contest, second prize in the Valencia Regional Contest, first prize in the International Wind Band Contest "City of Valencia"), Chella, the Lira Carcaixentina (third prize in the Cullera Contest), the Asociación Musical Canalense, the Lira Castellonenca of Vva. de Castellón (first prize in the Campo de Criptana Contest, second prize in the Valencia CIBM), the Banda Simfònica Unió of Carlet, Agrupació Musical d'Agullent and the Banda Sinfónica Santa Cecília of Requena (first prize in the Minglanilla Contest, 2nd prize and prize for the best conductor in the Magallón Contest). He has conducted the following orchestras on various occasions: "Ciudad de Elche", "Ciudad de Novelda", "Santa Cecília de Requena", and Orquesta "la Valldigna". He has been invited to conduct the Madrid Municipal Wind Band three times. He has recorded several wind band music CDs and has collaborated with the CDMC (Center for the promotion of contemporary music) in the release of contemporary music for saxophone. Throughout his professional career he has divided his time between conducting and teaching saxophone. He has taught in the Conservatories of Ontinyent, Elda, Utiel and Elche. Since 2011 he has been the principal conductor of the Banda Simfònica de la Unió Musical of Tavernes de la Valldigna. |
