And so begins another edition of the International Wind Band Contest "City of Valencia", without doubt an international reference point, as much for its prestige as for the importance it has acquired over the many years of its wonderful history.
We have worked enthusiastically to continue to improve the content of the Contest and, above all, to introduce new ideas founded on the fundamental premise of quality and which make it easier for music-lovers to access the event. To this end we have strived to exploit to the full the amazing features and possibilities offered by its venue, the Palau de la Música, and the diversity of iconic locations in the city of Valencia, which make it the ideal setting for the parts of the Contest which take place out on the streets.
It is a source of pride that the impact made by the previous edition, which has contributed to Valencia's reputation as a benchmark for bands all over the world, has led to greater international participation this year, with groups from Europe, America and Asia taking part in the Contest.
As President of the Palau de la Música and Councilor for the Valencia Orchestra and Municipal Band, I hope that all the bands taking part, both those from our Region and those who have come from other areas of Spain and abroad, give their all. I would also like to invite the people of Valencia and visitors to our city to attend and enjoy this Contest. I encourage them to play an active part in the event and to realize that in July, Valencia hosts the best wind band contest in the world.
