The AMC Banda de Música de Puertollano gave its first concert on 24 November 2013. It was formed after
the disbandment in May 2013 of the Banda Municipal de Música de Puertollano, which had been created in 1880.
Starting from nothing (without instruments, uniforms, archive, director or rehearsal space), the Band began a
hard journey in which it has managed to give more than 150 concerts, most of them organized by the Association.
In its short but intense history, the Band has won numerous awards, including First Prize and Honorable Mention at

conductor has won the Best Conductor Prize four times.

Buen Retiro, as well as in different wind band summits across Spain such as those in Bailén, Getafe, Manzanares, Linares
and Aldea del Rey.
José Manuel García Pozuelo has been the Band’s Principal Conductor since 2016. Ángel Parla, a protégé and transcriber of
Pablo Sorozábal, is the Band’s Honorary Director. He was the Director of the Banda Municipal de Música de Puertollano for
33 years. He also founded the local conservatories of music and dance and the Coral Polifónica de Puertollano. The guest
