SONAR VALENCIA “Paisatge eco-sònic”

Introduction and deconstruction of the pasodoble “VALENCIA” by maestro Padilla commemorating 100 years of its premiere, performed by the 9 Bands of the City of Valencia.

In 1977, NASA sent Voyager 1, a space capsule with a record with the most representative music on planet Earth, which contained the essence of humanity, aimed at any form of extraterrestrial life. In 2002 our musical ambassador in space was Joaquín Rodrigo.
What do you think Valencia would sound like from space? What does the heart of the Valencian cities sound like?
The feeling of Valencia, historically and in our daily life, is deeply musical, there are sounds that make it unique. The sound of our cities is that of the marches and pasodobles that are heard in every neighborhood and in every house.
We will hear a deconstruction of the pasodoble Valencia, by maestro Padilla, perhaps the pasodoble most deeply rooted in our hearts.
The entire length of the Plaza will be covered with the score, reproducing a sound puzzle played by musicians located in different areas.
Within this mosaic we will recognize other music that is in our sound DNA while the 9 bands parade in order from each side street to the door of the Town Hall, then they will enter the stage area and stand around the audience. With 8 percussionists on stage, 9 directors, 9 bands, 350 musicians around the audience, the concert begins.

CONCERT

Through SATURN by Juanjo Guillem, we place our vision from space, the music rotates in the asteroid belts of the planet. From here we can hear America with the Afro-Cuban ritual sounds and reminiscences of Hindustani music in the ecstatic BEMBÉ by Louis Aguirre and the East with the shocking and explosive contemporary traditional music of MONOCHROME by the Japanese Maki Ishii.

  • SATURNO (2023) - Juanjo Guillem. Catarroja 1965

For two solo percussionists and six percussionists.
With the participation of the bands from the City of Valencia.

  • BEMBÉ - Loius Aguirre. Cuba 1968

  • MONOCHROME Op. 28 (1976) - Maki Ishii. Japan 1939-1986
