The works of Juan J. Colomer have been performed by orchestras such as the San Francisco Symphony, the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar, the Russian National Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Orquesta Nacional de España, the Orchestra e Coro dell’Arena di Verona, the Budapest National Orchestra, the Orquesta y Coro de RTVE, the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, the San Diego Symphony, the Orquesta de la Comunidad Valenciana (Les Arts), the Orquesta Nacional de Ecuador, the Sinfónica de Galicia, the Filarmónica de Jalisco, the Wiener Symphoniker and the Orchestre de Paris, in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall (NY), the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall (Moscow), the Elbphilharmonie (Hamburg), the Teatro Real (Madrid) and the Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles).

He has received commissions from the Orquesta Nacional de España, the International Horn Symposium, the Philip Jones International Competition (France), the Centro para la Difusión de la Música Contemporánea, Spanish Brass, the Festival SBALZ de Alzira, the Fundación Autor, the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, the Dana Point Symphony (California), the Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical, the Instituto Valenciano de la Música, and the Auditori de Barcelona.

In 2008, the CD “Pasión española” by Plácido Domingo, featuring orchestrations by Colomer, won a Latin Grammy for Best Classical Album.

His ballet “Sorolla”, commissioned by the Ballet Nacional de España, premiered in Madrid in 2013.

His second opera “El Pintor”, based on Picasso, with libretto by Albert Boadella, was commissioned and premiered by the Teatro Real in 2018 as part of its 200th anniversary celebrations.

His opera “Dulcinea XL” was premiered in January 2019 by the LA Grand Ensemble in Los Angeles.

He is the founder of “ArtisticSoirées”, a series of concerts and artistic collaborations where, once a month, the composer opens the doors of his loft in Los Angeles so the public can enjoy the best of the LA cultural scene.

He is also the Director General of the LA Grand Ensemble, made up of musicians from the most prestigious orchestras in Los Angeles, with the mission to interact with other disciplines such as set design, lighting, costume design, video projections and new technologies.
